Very well balanced with sweet and soft tannins. Fruity, full of plums and chocolate notes.
Vivacious red wine with violet sparkles. Deep and shiny. Plum jam and raisins combined with tobacco and chocolate. Soft and harmonic oak. Sweet and soft tannins. Long and persistent bouquet. Elegant. Pleasant finish.
There are few places on earth where magic really happens. The Calchaqui Valleys, home of El Esteco winery, is certainly one of them. Poor alluvial soils, high sun exposure, low humidity and broad thermal amplitude make the Calchaqui Valley in the north of Argentina, an exceptional wine region. With its nearly 1,000 acres of vineyards, El Esteco condenses all the spirit of the region in their fruit and the fusion between the legacy of ancient civilisations, the Hispanic influence and the criollo spirit. Its iconic vallisto Spanish colonial-style building, surrounded by ancient vineyards, denotes the elegance of the typical colonial architecture from the north of the country. The hundred-year-old building contrasts with the latest wine production technologies found inside the winery such as concrete containers, stainless steel tanks, and the poetic French and American oak barrels, enabling wines of diverse styles, flavours and aromas.
"Don David" was the key man in the history of Grupo Penaflor winery. He was a pioneer in planting quality vines in the high altitude vineyards of the Calchaqui Valley, convinced that this remote and exquisite region had the potential to deliver unique wines. This range pays tribute to the legacy of the Grupo Penaflor founder.
