Montrose Rose 750ml
Elegant wine combining roundness and freshness. Red berries and peach flavours with spicy overtones.
Light and bright colour. The bouquet reveals red berries and citrus flavours.
Domaine Montrose and its surroundings have been inhabited for millennia. During Antiquity, it was likely a Roman villa. Wine has been made at Montrose since the 16th century, as evidenced by the underground tanks beneath the wine cellar. In 1701 ancestor Joseph Alazard received the Three Lizards coat of arms, which adorns all of the Domaine Montrose bottles today.
Montrose is situated in the south of France in the Languedoc, a few kilometres from Pézenas and the Mediterranean Sea. The vineyard around the winery is planted on a range of rather unusual terroirs: Clay-limestone, villafranchian terraces, volcanic. This assortment of terroirs gives Domaine Montrose wines a unique personality. For nine generations, the estate has belonged to the Coste family. More than just a winery, Montrose is a place of life and sharing. Ancestral savoir-faire and a commitment to each moment allow the creation of exceptional wines.
Grapes are harvested at night to preserve freshness. They are destemmed before a short skin contact or direct pressing. Fermentation temperature is maintained between 15°C to 18°C to retain fruit aromas. Wines resulting from the different terroirs and grapes are blended after fermentation and then aged in stainless steel vats. It is bottled during winter and spring.
